Saint Paul police are investigating a homicide after a man was found fatally shot inside a vehicle that hit a tree Friday morning in the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood, the department said.
Officers went to the 900 block of Mounds Boulevard shortly after 7 a.m. Nov. 6 after multiple 911 calls reported a two-vehicle crash, police said. One of the vehicles had struck a tree. The adult male driver of that vehicle was found inside with apparent gunshot wounds. Police said he was the only person in the vehicle.
Officers and Saint Paul Fire medics pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.

Homicide investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting. Police said witnesses reported hearing what they believed were gunshots in the area before the crash.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to identify the man and determine his exact cause and manner of death, police said. Police said that information and any updates will be posted on the department’s Facebook and X accounts.
Police said this is the 16th homicide in Saint Paul in 2026.
