A series of threatening Facebook messages sent to two women in late October prompted police to detain a Minnesota man for threats of violence, according to the complaint.
Jeffrey Michael Throldahl faces a charge of threats of violence-reckless disregard risk, according to a complaint filed October 26 in Blue Earth County District Court.
According to the complaint, officers from the Mankato Department of Public Safety were dispatched on October 23 for a welfare check after the first victim reported receiving threatening messages from Throldahl over Facebook Messenger. The victim told officers she had not seen Throldahl since 2017 at a funeral and currently lives in South Dakota.

She reported that Throldahl sent messages including “I will kill him,” “he will be dead,” and “just die like your evil mother.” The victim told officers she was not concerned that Throldahl would follow through on the threats.
Officers reviewed the messages and went to Throldahl’s residence. Throldahl admitted to sending the messages and acknowledged they were threatening, but denied any intent to harm anyone. Officers detained Throldahl as a threat to himself or others and transported him to the hospital.
The following day, on October 24, officers were again dispatched to Throldahl’s residence after a second victim reported that Throldahl was drunk and threatening a child. Officers administered a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a .238, and took Throldahl to detox.
Officers spoke with the second victim and reviewed additional Facebook messages from Throldahl, which included statements such as “Fu die b****,” “I will kill you,” and “I will search you and get rid of you.” The second victim told officers she was alarmed by the threats and concerned that Throldahl would look her up and kill her.
The complaint states that Throldahl was previously found incompetent on June 23, 2026, in a separate court file. At the time of the most recent police contact, Throldahl was at Brown County Detox.
