A man in Mankato threatened to kill a neighbor and shined his truck’s high beams into her windows while intoxicated, then physically resisted officers trying to arrest him, according to the complaint.

Spencer Stuart Anderson Jr., 46, faces six charges in Blue Earth County District Court: threats of violence, obstructing legal process, two counts of DWI, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. The charges were filed October 12.

According to the complaint, officers with the Mankato Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in Mankato on October 10 after a report of a domestic situation involving Anderson and another adult. Officers found Anderson intoxicated and immediately confrontational, refusing to provide details about what had happened.

Anderson made comments about breaking a neighbor’s cameras and was told by officers to separate from the other adult for the night. Officers also warned Anderson not to drive or he would be arrested for DWI.

Later that night, dispatch received a call from the neighbor, who reported that Anderson was threatening to kill her and was in his truck. Officers returned to the residence and found Anderson in his vehicle with the ignition running. The complaint states Anderson had moved the truck so that its high beams were shining directly into the neighbor’s windows.

When officers attempted to arrest Anderson, he physically resisted by pulling his arms away with force. Officers had to take him to the ground to complete the arrest while he continued to resist, according to the complaint.

The neighbor told officers that as she was walking into her house, Anderson began yelling at her and threatening her. The neighbor reported that Anderson said, “you better watch your back you f****** b****. I’ll kill you.” The neighbor reported that Anderson made additional threats to hurt her and that people in her house were hiding because they were terrified. The neighbor expressed significant concerns for her safety.

Officers obtained a warrant for Anderson’s blood as part of the DWI investigation.
