A man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her Austin bedroom on July 5, according to the complaint.
Seydou Traore, 29, faces two charges in Mower County District Court: fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving penetration, a felony, and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving nonconsensual sexual contact, a gross misdemeanor. The charges were filed October 14.
According to the complaint, officers with the Austin Police Department responded to a residence in Austin at about 5:00 p.m. on July 5 after a report of a sexual assault. She said Traore grabbed her by the arm, asked to talk and pulled her up the stairs to her bedroom, where the assault happened. She told officers she had known Traore for about six months and had never had a sexual relationship with him.
Officers photographed the bedroom and collected the bedding as evidence. The woman was sent for a sexual assault exam, and her clothing and the exam kit were sent to the BCA laboratory for analysis.
Officers later spoke with Traore at his home. He told them he had been upstairs with the woman for five to 10 minutes before leaving, denied touching her inappropriately and said he did not know why she would say that, according to the complaint.
The complaint lists a maximum sentence of two years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both for the felony count, and 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine or both for the gross misdemeanor count.
