A Minneapolis man demanded money from a woman at a downtown light rail platform, threatened to hurt her and repeatedly assaulted her as she tried to get away, prosecutors say.
Maurice Lemar Green, 45, faces charges of attempted first-degree aggravated robbery, attempted simple robbery and threats of violence.
According to the complaint, officers were called to a light rail station in Minneapolis on about June 21, 2026, for a reported assault. The victim told officers she had met Green earlier that night and attended a concert with him. After the show, they went to the U.S. Bank Stadium light rail platform, where Green demanded she take him to an ATM and give him money.

When the victim refused, Green threatened to hurt her, smash her phone and “f*** her up.” The complaint states Green then tried to steal the victim’s purse. As the victim tried to stop him, Green punched her with a closed fist. The victim told officers she was frightened and terrified.
Officers reviewed surveillance video from the platform, which showed Green lunging at the victim and appearing to strike her in the face. The video also showed Green grabbing onto the victim as they struggled over an object. After Green let go, the victim tried to walk away, but Green followed and grabbed her again.
The victim was seen trying to get away, but Green continued to hold onto her until a third party intervened. Green then appeared to make contact with the victim a third time, causing her to fall to the ground.
Photos taken after the assault showed bruising and reddening on the left side of the victim’s face and bruising on her right arm, according to court records. The charges were filed Tuesday, August 18.
