A deputy arrived a few minutes later and found the crash involved an eastbound 2006 Mustang driven by an adult woman from Rochester and a westbound 2019 Toyota Tundra carrying two adults and a small child from Dodge Center.

A witness told deputies they saw the driver of the Mustang traveling down the middle of the road over the center line before swerving to avoid a collision. The driver of the Tundra was behind the witness and was not able to avoid the crash.

Authorities say the driver of the Mustang had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The people in the Tundra were able to get out of the car on their own power and were taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The sheriff’s office said it’s likely the Mustang driver died on impact.

The Sheriff’s Office requested the Minnesota State Patrol to help investigate the crash. Names of those involved have not yet been released.
