State Patrol Investigating Fatal Collision Between Two Semis in Meeker County

 

The Minnesota State Patrol says two semi trucks collided Friday afternoon in Meeker County, leaving at least one driver dead.

According to the incident report, the crash happened around 3 p.m. on August 15 on Highway 55 near Lakewood Road in Manannah Township.

A 1996 Kenworth semi was stopped in the eastbound lane, waiting to turn left into a driveway, when it was struck by another eastbound Kenworth semi.

Both trucks were heavily damaged in the collision. The 73-year-old man from Eden Valley driving the first truck and the 57-year-old man from Burtrum driving the second truck were identified as the drivers involved. The State Patrol has confirmed that at least one of the drivers died from his injuries. Their names are expected to be released Saturday.

Troopers reported dry road conditions at the time of the crash. Responding agencies included the Stearns and Meeker County sheriff’s offices, Eden Valley police, Eden Valley Fire and Rescue, and CentraCare Ambulance.

The State Patrol is continuing to investigate.
