Investigators later identified the woman as 22-year-old Hallie Tobler and the man as her husband, 23-year-old Dylan Tobler, both of Saint Cloud.
Authorities say Hallie Tobler was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, which determined her injuries were consistent with multiple stab wounds.

Officers also found Dylan Tobler inside the apartment suffering serious injuries investigators believe were self-inflicted. Paramedics took him to Saint Cloud Hospital, where police say he remains in stable condition and is in custody.
Investigators say evidence collected indicates Dylan Tobler is believed to be responsible for Hallie Tobler’s death. Authorities say once he is released from the hospital, he is expected to be booked into the Stearns County Jail on suspicion of homicide.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the Saint Cloud Police Department with the investigation. Authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the stabbing.

The Minnesota Republican Party also released a statement confirming Hallie Tobler was the daughter of Dr. Jeff Johnson, a Minnesota gubernatorial candidate and longtime state political figure.
“The Minnesota Republican Party is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Dr. Jeff Johnson’s daughter, who was killed in a violent crime Saturday night in Saint Cloud. There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow we feel for Jeff and his family. The loss of a child is unimaginable, and our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve this devastating tragedy,” MNGOP officials said in the statement.
Johnson has suspended his campaign for governor following his daughter’s death.
“Out of respect for his family and the enormity of this loss, Jeff has suspended his campaign for Governor of Minnesota. We ask all Minnesotans to join us in lifting up the Johnson family during this incredibly painful time,” the statement continued.
