One Dead, Two Injured After Head-On Crash in Benton County

 

A 64-year-old Saint Cloud man died Saturday night after a head-on crash in Benton County.

The crash happened around 8:03 p.m. on Highway 23 near mile marker 220 in Gilmanton Township.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 64-year-old Edward Leroy Hindermann was travelling northbound in a Chevrolet Silverado and collided head-on with a southbound Ram 1500 driven by a 17-year-old girl from Foreston.

Hindermann was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol was not involved.

The teen driver of the Ram sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Saint Cloud Hospital. A passenger in her vehicle, an 18-year-old woman of Oak Park, was also hurt and transported to the Princeton ER at Northland Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Both were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor.

Foley Police, Benton County deputies, Foley Fire, and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
