The driver of a 2014 Dodge Charger was traveling west when they struck the back of the horse-drawn buggy, which was also westbound on the same road.

Responders arrived to find multiple people injured. The driver of the Charger was checked by medical personnel and released at the scene. An adult male in the buggy was taken by ambulance to Astera Hospital in Wadena with serious injuries. A juvenile male passenger was taken by ambulance to the Bertha-Hewitt School parking lot, where they met a North Memorial helicopter to fly him to a trauma center for further treatment.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate. Officials have not said what may have caused the crash.
