Mora Man Dies in Saturday Night Crash
A 32-year-old man died Saturday night in a crash Highway 65 in Kanabec County, authorities have confirmed.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened just before 11 p.m. near 310th Avenue in Peace Township.

Initial information indicates that both vehicles were headed north when the driver of the 2010 Ford Escape struck an SSR Terminator on the right side of the northbound lane.
The driver of the SSR Terminator, identified as Richard James Duffee of Mora, died at the scene. Troopers reported that he was not wearing a helmet, and it’s unknown whether alcohol was a factor. The SSR Terminator is a vehicle produced by SSR Motorsports, a manufacturer known for off-road type vehicles.

The Ford Escape was driven by an 18-year-old man, also of Mora. He was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. Troopers noted there was no alcohol detected on him.
Road conditions at the time of the crash were dry. The Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office and Wellia EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
