Man Found Dead on Apple Valley Sidewalk Early Sunday

 

A man was found dead early Sunday morning in Apple Valley and police are investigating the case as a possible homicide.

Around 3:12 a.m. on July 6, officers were called to the area of Pennock Avenue and 138th Street on a report of someone lying on the sidewalk.

When they arrived, they found an adult male covered in blood and suffering from a chest injury. Officers began lifesaving efforts, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to initial fire department radio dispatches, the man was found with a fatal gunshot wound.

Apple Valley Police remained on scene throughout the morning to collect evidence and process the area. The department says the investigation remains active and ongoing, and the circumstances of the incident are still under review.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name and cause of death once formal identification is complete.

Authorities are asking residents in the neighborhood to check exterior surveillance footage from between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. for anything unusual. Anyone with relevant footage or information is asked to contact Apple Valley Police at 952-322-2323.
