Man Shot and Killed in Early Morning Minneapolis Shooting

A man is dead after a shooting early Saturday morning in Minneapolis.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14 on the 2300 block of Hennepin Avenue.

Minneapolis police say officers arrived and found a man suffering from at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began providing medical aid, including CPR, before the man was taken by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare. He later died at the hospital.

Initial information indicates the man had been standing in a parking lot with a group of people when gunfire erupted from outside the group and struck him.

Investigators are now working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting. Minneapolis forensic scientists responded to process the scene and collect evidence.

Police say no arrests have been made.

“Gun violence devastates families and traumatizes communities, and tonight it took the life of a man,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a statement. “We will do everything we can to bring those responsible for this senseless violence to justice.”

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Minneapolis police by emailing policetips@minneapolismn.gov or calling 612-673-5845 to leave a voicemail.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted to CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at CrimeStoppersMN.org. Information that leads to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for a financial reward.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the man who died.
