Man Killed in Minneapolis Shooting Early Monday

Police say a man was shot and killed early Monday morning in south Minneapolis.

According to police, officers responded around 1 a.m. after a ShotSpotter activation in the 1900 block of Elliot Avenue.

Metro Transit officers in the area of Chicago Avenue and East Franklin Avenue also reported hearing the gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 40s with life-threatening gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence. Officers immediately provided aid, but the man died at the scene.

Investigators are still working to piece together what led to the shooting. Forensic scientists with the Minneapolis Police Department processed the scene and collected evidence. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man and release his official cause and manner of death.
