The male suspect had left the property before deputies arrived. Authorities say he was located a short time later by Mower County deputies, who began a pursuit.

The man returned to the home on 880th Avenue, got out of his vehicle and was shot by law enforcement. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he died at the scene.

After securing the property, officers found a woman who had already died before they arrived. Her cause of death has not been confirmed.

Authorities have not released the names or ages of either person.

The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation and says body-worn cameras captured portions of the shooting. Additional information is expected in the coming days.
