Man Fatally Shot Outside Hibbing Apartment Complex

Police are investigating a deadly shooting early Sunday morning outside a Hibbing apartment complex.

Officers were called just after 2 a.m. to the Meadowview Apartments on the 3500 block of 9th Avenue West after several 911 callers reported gunfire in the parking lot.

When they arrived, officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. Despite life-saving efforts from officers and medical crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hibbing Police Department said the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation. Detectives are working to identify whoever is responsible and believe the shooting was an “isolated” incident, with no ongoing threat to the public.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Chisholm Police Department and Hibbing Fire Department also responded to the scene.
