Man Fatally Shot After Early Morning Altercation in Bloomington

 

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed during an early morning altercation Sunday in a Bloomington neighborhood, according to police.

Officers were dispatched just before 6:45 a.m. to the 200 block of 92nd Street West after a 911 caller reported that someone had been shot.

Responding officers found a man lying on the ground near a residential driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Several people at the scene were trying to render aid when police arrived.

According to those on scene, a group of men had been sitting together in the driveway before a physical fight broke out. During the altercation, one of the men reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times before fleeing the area with two other males.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the man as 24-year-old Andy Tapia Negrete, of Bloomington. The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators with the Bloomington Police Department, assisted by the Hennepin County Crime Lab, are actively working the case and have identified people of interest. The investigation remains ongoing.
