Burnsville Standoff Ends With Suspect Found Dead in Home

A man was found deceased inside a residence after a standoff with law enforcement Thursday in Burnsville.

Around 5 p.m., Burnsville officers responded to a report of a domestic-related incident near Southcross Drive and Portland Avenue.

When they arrived, officers encountered a “barricade situation” involving a male suspect inside the home.

Additional units were requested and multiple law enforcement and emergency vehicles responded to the area. Two armored BearCat vehicles and the Burnsville Police Mobile Command Center were positioned just east of the scene on Southcross Drive. Officers then used a loudspeaker to issue repeated commands for the suspect to exit through the front door and with his hands raised.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., Burnsville Police confirmed the scene was secure. The suspect was located deceased inside the home from what authorities said appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other injuries were reported and the man has not been identified.

Police said there’s no ongoing threat to the public and the investigation remains active.
