A large fire severely damaged the historic Whiskey Junction building in Minneapolis early Wednesday.
Fire crews were dispatched just after 12:30 a.m. to 901 Cedar Avenue South, where they arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the back of the building. Firefighters entered the building and found the fire had spread to the second floor and was moving into the roof. As conditions worsened, a second alarm was requested to bring in more assistance.
Crews used a ladder truck to get onto the roof, where they found it had become unstable due to the fire damage. Firefighters worked for an extended period to put out hot spots and make sure the fire was fully extinguished.
No one was found inside and the business was closed at the time.
One firefighter was evaluated for possible overexertion and taken to the hospital for further evaluation. There were no other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
