According to the complaint, officers executed search warrants on Aug. 20 as part of an investigation into cocaine sales in Minneapolis. The warrants covered Meeks, his vehicle and his residence in Minneapolis.
Officers conducted a traffic stop of his vehicle and arrested him, the complaint says. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a compartment near the steering wheel containing 5.5 grams of cocaine that field-tested positive.
Police then executed a search warrant at his residence. Building management confirmed to officers that Meeks had lived there by himself for about five years and rented an apartment room with a shared kitchen and bathroom.
Inside Meeks’s room, officers found $1,220, a digital scale, a plastic bag with 32 grams of field-tested positive cocaine in a dresser drawer and another plastic bag with 55 grams of field-tested positive cocaine in a plastic storage bin, according to the complaint. The complaint says the quantities, the scale and the large amount of money are indicative of narcotics sales.
The sale count accuses Meeks of selling, possessing with intent to sell or otherwise distributing 17 grams or more of cocaine, citing the 87 grams found in the apartment. The two first-degree possession counts each cite 50 grams or more of cocaine (87 grams and 55 grams in the apartment). The second-degree count cites 25 grams or more (32 grams), and the fifth-degree count cites cocaine in the vehicle.
A court date is not listed in the charging documents.
