A man accused of threatening to kick in a woman’s door and “take her out” led deputies on a chase at speeds up to 115 mph from Pine County into Mora, according to a criminal complaint.

Anthony Michael Norton, 40, is charged in Kanabec County District Court with two counts of terroristic threats and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle in a complaint filed October 26.

The complaint says the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office was sent to a home on Nelson Avenue at about 2:38 p.m. on October 22 after a woman reported that Norton had called to say he was on his way to kick in her door and take her and another person out. She told deputies she had warned him to stay away and said she would use a gun to protect herself. He answered that he did not care and that he had a firearm too, she said.

At about 10 p.m. Kanabec County deputies went to help Pine County law enforcement chasing a vehicle linked to Norton. The complaint says Norton was the driver and sped away from a Pine County traffic stop at up to 115 mph, driving into the oncoming lane and on shoulders. The chase ended in Mora, where deputies used stop sticks and Pine County law enforcement used a PIT maneuver to disable the vehicle and Norton was arrested.

A search of the road he drove turned up a Glock pistol in Pine County, which was swabbed and sent to the BCA for testing, the complaint says.
