A Duluth man and a Hermantown woman are charged after two men were stabbed during a fentanyl robbery the woman helped set up in Duluth on Oct. 31, according to criminal complaints.
Tyler Cletus Garner, 31, is charged in Saint Louis County District Court with first-degree aggravated robbery and two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, all felonies. Madison Rae Giacomini, who was 25 at the time of the alleged offense, is charged with aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery, a felony. She also faces a gross misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault. Both complaints were filed Nov. 3.
According to the complaints, Duluth police were called to a report of two men stabbed at about 5:13 p.m. One man told officers he believed Giacomini had set him up by trying to lure him down the stairs. He said Garner then jumped from behind a vehicle with a knife in his hand and demanded that he empty his pockets and hand over everything.

The man refused, pushed Garner back and yelled for help. Giacomini then joined in and used mace on him, the complaints say. He said Garner took fentanyl from his pocket. Officers saw two stab wounds on his abdomen.
A second man told officers he was upstairs when he heard the yelling. He came outside, saw Garner and Giacomini assaulting the first man and stepped in. He did not realize he had been stabbed until after the fight. He had a stab wound on his left side and said he was certain Garner stabbed him because Giacomini was nowhere near him.
Officers arrested Giacomini. According to the complaints, she told police that robbing the man for his drugs was Garner’s idea and that she agreed to set up the meeting. She said she shared her location with Garner, who crouched behind the man’s vehicle and chased him when he came out of the apartment. She admitted she yelled to Garner to check the man’s pockets for drugs during the struggle.
