A 22-year-old Hoyt Lakes man accidentally shot himself in the left leg with a handgun at an underage Halloween party in Britt on Saturday night, the Saint Louis County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were sent to the party at about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 31 after a report of a shooting. During the investigation, deputies learned the man was intoxicated when he shot himself, the office said.
He was taken to Virginia Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle and treated for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said the incident remains under investigation. No other details were released as of publication.
