A man in Duluth shot another man in the chest outside a downtown saloon before fleeing on foot, prosecutors say.
Dominic Keith Nagle, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, faces four felony charges in Saint Louis County District Court: attempted murder in the second-degree with intent but not premeditated, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, intentional discharge of a firearm that endangered safety and possession of a pistol or ammunition while under 18.
According to the complaint, Duluth police responded to a report of a shooting at the victim Quinlan’s Saloon in Duluth at about 9:38 p.m. on May 9, 2026. Officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk near the saloon with a gunshot wound to the upper right chest. The victim told officers an unknown male had shot him. Emergency medical services transported the victim to Essentia Hospital for treatment.

A witness described the shooter as wearing a black sweatshirt, white pants and red shoes. Surveillance video from city cameras showed the victim interacting with a black male as he walked past the saloon. The suspect, wearing a black jacket, white pants and red shoes, crossed Superior Street to meet the black male. Both then walked back across the street toward the Holiday Center, with the victim following from a distance.
The video showed the suspect standing on the upper sidewalk, producing what appeared to be a pistol and firing one shot at the victim. The victim flinched, walked back across the street, entered the saloon briefly and then returned outside to lie on the sidewalk until officers arrived. The shooter ran west on Superior Street and up 3rd Avenue West, while the black male he was with ran up North 3rd Avenue West.
Investigators recovered high-quality images of the suspect and the black male from security cameras in the area. Police found a red sweatshirt and facemask rolled up behind a garbage can about a block from the shooting, in the direction the suspect had fled.
Investigators identified the black male. Investigators spoke with a close friend of his, who showed them an Instagram message he sent shortly after the shooting, referencing police activity.
The friend said the black male would have been with “Dae Dae” that night and identified the shooter in surveillance images as “Dae Dae,” whose legal first name was “Dominic,” middle initial “K,” and last initial “N.” The friend also provided a Facebook profile for “Dae Dae” that matched the suspect’s appearance.
Police searched their records and identified Dominic Keith Nagle as the only male in Duluth with those initials. Investigators compared a recent photograph of Nagle to the surveillance images and noted a distinctive mole on his chin matching the suspect.
The charges were filed October 23 in Saint Louis County District Court.
