A woman in Shamrock Township told officers she was threatened and sexually assaulted by a man who demanded sexual acts and threatened to burn down the house with her inside if she refused, according to the complaint.
Ryan Joseph Quinn, 42, a McGregor man, faces charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and threats of violence, according to a complaint filed October 19 in Aitkin County District Court.
According to the complaint, officers were dispatched to a residence in Shamrock Township at about 11:20 a.m. on October 18 after the victim reported that Quinn had threatened her and sexually assaulted her earlier that day. The victim told officers that Quinn had come home the previous afternoon appearing to be under the influence, became angry and yelled at her, then left and returned after she had gone to bed.

The complaint states that when Quinn returned, he woke the victim and demanded she perform sexual acts, threatening to burn the house down with her inside if she refused. The victim said she was scared and complied, performing a sex act because she feared for her safety. She told officers she did not want to engage in the activity but was afraid due to Quinn’s threats.
The victim said Quinn touched her over her clothing and rubbed against her, and that she pushed his hands away and told him “no” several times, but he continued.
The victim showed officers a text message Quinn had sent earlier that day referencing sexual acts. She also told officers that Quinn usually slept on the couch and that his behavior frightened her. After the assault, Quinn acted as if everything was normal before leaving for a job later that morning.
Officers contacted Quinn by phone and met him at another location, where he denied the assault and was arrested. According to the complaint, Quinn admitted the sexual contact but claimed it was consensual and denied making threats. Officers noted Quinn smelled of alcohol, and a preliminary breath test showed a result of .045.
