Two women are accused of spraying a woman and a young child with mace and hitting the woman with a hammer inside a Minneapolis grocery store, according to charges filed in Hennepin County.

V’Yanni Shaniya Rosenbloom faces a felony count of aiding and abetting second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and two gross misdemeanor counts of using tear gas or a stun gun not in self-defense.

According to the complaint, Minneapolis police responded to a home in Minneapolis at about 8:45 p.m. on August 19, 2025, to take a report of an assault that had happened the previous day at the Lake and Park Grocery. The victim told officers she went to the store with a young child when two females confronted her and began yelling. The victim recognized one of the women but not the other.

The victim said she told the two to leave her and the child alone, but the woman she did not know sprayed both with mace. As the victim tried to run away, the woman she recognized pulled out a hammer and struck the victim multiple times in the back and left arm. The victim described handing the child to a store employee before turning to face the woman with the hammer.

The victim managed to grab the hammer away, and both suspects ran out of the store. The victim also reported that the two smashed the windshield of her car.

Officers observed visible injuries on the victim’s left arm and back, including a cut and a mark. The victim provided police with videos from social media showing the two suspects talking about the assault. In one video, the woman the victim recognized discussed beating up the victim, while the other suspect, using the name “Slimey Slat,” teased the victim by shouting “My son! My son!” In another video, “Slimey Slat” admitted to macing the victim and the child, and laughed about the other woman hitting the victim with a hammer. The woman the victim recognized also admitted to hitting the victim with a hammer and claimed the child was not touched.

Police obtained surveillance video from the store, which showed the same two women from the social media videos. The footage captured the use of mace, the hammer assault and the victim grabbing the hammer after being struck. Investigators circulated images of the suspects to other officers, who identified both from a prior case. Police identified the woman who used the name “Slimey Slat” as Rosenbloom, according to the complaint.

In a follow-up interview, the victim told police she did not know why the two women assaulted her, but believed it might be related to issues with a friend. She gave police the hammer used in the assault.

The charges against Rosenbloom were filed October 20 in Hennepin County District Court.
