A man refused to let the victim leave an apartment in Minneapolis and later headbutted an officer while being arrested, according to a criminal complaint.
Anthony Jones Jr., 36, faces charges of false imprisonment and fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, filed October 16 in Hennepin County District Court.
According to the complaint, officers were called to an apartment in Minneapolis on about October 15 for a domestic in progress. Before arriving, officers spoke with the victim, who said he and Jones had gotten into an argument and that Jones was not allowing the victim to leave the apartment.

When officers arrived, they spoke with Jones, who gave them a false first and last name. The victim then provided officers with Jones’s correct name. Officers left the residence after this initial contact, but Jones remained inside with the victim.
Later, officers learned that Jones had an active felony warrant for a release violation. They returned to the apartment and found that Jones refused to open the door and would not let the victim leave. Eventually, Jones released the victim from the apartment and relocked himself inside.
After attempts to negotiate with Jones were unsuccessful, officers entered the apartment and placed him under arrest. While being arrested, Jones headbutted an officer, causing the officer’s face to redden and resulting in pain, the complaint says.
Jones is charged with false imprisonment for intentionally restraining the victim and with fourth-degree assault for causing demonstrable bodily harm to a peace officer during the arrest.
