A Minneapolis man is accused of pulling a handgun, threatening to kill a driver and firing at his vehicle with an infant in the back seat, according to a criminal complaint.
Terrence Odell Watson, 62, faces a felony count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. The complaint was filed Oct. 19 in Hennepin County District Court, and bail was set at $100,000.
According to the complaint, Minneapolis police were dispatched at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 to the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue North after a report of shots fired. Officers met the victim, who said he had gotten into an argument with Watson. The victim told police he was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with an infant in the back seat when Watson approached.

The complaint states that after the argument, the victim decided to drive away. Watson then pulled a handgun from his jacket pocket, threatened to kill the victim, pointed the gun at the vehicle and fired a round. The victim told officers he believed Watson was going to kill him, so he drove away from the area and called 911.
A witness told police they heard a gunshot in the area. Officers found a discarded cartridge casing on the ground. The complaint says Watson left the area and went back into his apartment building.
Officers went to Watson’s apartment but did not find him there. Investigators later obtained video showing Watson inside the building changing clothing and then leaving.
Officers arrested Watson on Oct. 16, according to the complaint.
The assault count carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a fine of up to $14,000 or both, according to the complaint.
