A Wilton man broke into a Bemidji home, confronted the victim and sent a series of threatening messages in the hours leading up to the encounter, according to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County.
Tyler Alexander Molitor faces four charges: first-degree burglary, stalking, making terroristic threats and harassment.
According to the complaint, Bemidji police responded to a call for help on the evening of October 6 after the victim’s friend reported that the victim was in distress and needed police assistance. Officers spoke to the victim, who said she knew Molitor and that he did not live with her or have a key to her new home.

The victim told officers she suspected Molitor had entered her home the previous day while she was at work. After confronting him about it, Molitor began sending her a series of threatening and abusive text messages.
The complaint details messages in which Molitor threatened to slap the victim, accused her of being “the dumbest person you know,” and asked, “Do you want to get hit?” He also wrote, “I’ll come there and slap the f*** out of you,” and made other derogatory and threatening statements.
While the victim was on the phone with her friend, she heard Molitor screaming from downstairs. She told her friend Molitor was in the home and asked her to call police. The victim reported hearing Molitor walking up the stairs, yelling for her, and approaching with his arms raised and voice raised.
Fearing for her safety due to previous abuse and the threatening messages, the victim grabbed the child and went to her car. Molitor tried to talk to her through the car window before leaving. The victim told police she never gave Molitor permission to enter her home.
Officers reviewed the text messages and confirmed the threatening content. While officers were at the scene, dispatch advised that Molitor had called requesting to speak to an officer. In a phone conversation with police, Molitor admitted the victim had accused him of breaking into her house after she found a receipt on the floor.
Molitor claimed the receipt may have fallen from the car seat. He told officers he was tired of texting and wanted to speak to the victim face to face, admitting he had said “stupid s***” he should not have said.
Molitor acknowledged that he understood the victim could be afraid after he threatened to hit her. He admitted going to the victim’s residence, knocking on the door, and entering without permission when there was no answer. Molitor said he walked up to the victim with his hands behind his back while speaking to her. He refused to tell officers his location because he did not want to go to jail.
The complaint states the victim reported Molitor trains at a mixed martial arts gym and that about two years earlier, Molitor choked her. She also told police Molitor claimed to have shot at or toward another woman and that he owns a .22 rifle and a shotgun.
The charges against Molitor include first-degree burglary for entering the victim’s home and assaulting or threatening a person inside, stalking for engaging in a pattern of threatening behavior, making terroristic threats by expressing intent to harm and harassment for causing the victim to fear substantial bodily harm.
The complaint was filed October 8 in Beltrami County District Court.
