A man repeatedly struck another man in the face with his knee and stole his phone, according to charges. Police investigated the Sept. 7 attack at a Bemidji apartment after a neighbor reported an assault around 7:36 p.m.
Dylan Troy Klosterman, 32, of Bemidji, is charged with felony simple robbery.
The injured man told police he had been drinking beer with Klosterman earlier. He said he later found Klosterman near his apartment door, where Klosterman lunged at him and knocked him to the ground, according to the complaint.
The man said Klosterman struck his face repeatedly with a knee, dragged him into the apartment and continued the attack before taking his phone.
An officer spoke with the man at a Bemidji hospital the following day and documented extensive facial injuries. A neighbor had reported seeing the man bleeding from his mouth and another man running away in a maroon shirt. The officer said Klosterman was wearing a maroon shirt during an earlier encounter.
