A man is charged with helping rob a man who was knocked unconscious on a Minneapolis street, after surveillance video showed him slapping the victim and joining others in going through his pockets, according to charges.

Darian Solomon Rosenthal, 26, faces a felony charge of aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery.

According to the criminal complaint, a Hennepin County sheriff’s deputy was flagged down by bystanders near 5th Street North and Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis on Oct. 2 for an assault. Officers spoke with the victim, who reported being punched and robbed of his wallet, Arizona ID card and cash.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the area. The footage shows Darian Solomon Rosenthal using his right hand to backhand slap the victim in the face. Another man standing next to Rosenthal then punched the victim, knocking him unconscious. Several people, including Rosenthal, are seen going through the victim’s pockets and taking his belongings.

About three hours later, Rosenthal returned to the scene. Officers arrested him and found a replica Glock BB gun on his person. He was wearing the same clothing as in the surveillance video.

After being read his Miranda rights, Rosenthal agreed to speak with officers. He admitted to hitting the victim but denied taking anything from the victim’s pockets.

The charge was filed Oct. 2 in Hennepin County District Court.
