A Saint Paul man knocked another man unconscious and stole his phone, wallet and chain in front of a crowd at a Cinco de Mayo event on May 2, prosecutors say.
Prince Arvell Jordan, 22, faces a charge of aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery in Ramsey County District Court.
According to the complaint, a Saint Paul police sergeant working overtime at the Cinco de Mayo event saw two men sprinting through the crowd as if fleeing a crime. One of the men, later identified as Prince Arvell Jordan, was described as heavy-set with long dreadlocks and wearing a white t-shirt. The sergeant then saw a man unconscious on the sidewalk, bleeding from his mouth, with a woman holding a crying infant next to him.

The woman told officers that two men attacked the victim, hit him in the head, knocked him to the ground and took his cell phone, money and wallet from his pocket. She said they also yanked a chain off the victim’s neck before fleeing on foot. The woman reported that the victim had been holding the infant during the assault and believed the child may have been struck in the head.
Other officers spotted Jordan and the second suspect running away. Jordan’s white t-shirt was ripped at the chest and he appeared out of breath when officers detained him. During a search, police found two cell phones and other personal items on Jordan. When officers called the victim’s cell phone number, one of the phones recovered from Jordan, a black iPhone, began ringing and displayed the number from which the officer was calling.
The lock screen showed a picture of an infant with a bow on her head.
The victim was transported to Regions Hospital, where he told police he could not remember what happened before the assault and did not know the suspects. He described his phone as an iPhone 15 with a picture of his “baby girl” on the lock screen.
Investigators reviewed video posted on social media that showed Jordan assaulting the victim, reaching into his pocket, taking the black iPhone and fleeing the scene on foot.
The charge was filed October 1 in Ramsey County District Court.
