A woman climbed through an apartment window and attacked a woman who was holding a toddler, injuring both, according to charges. Duluth police responded around 2:30 a.m. Sept. 15 to the 2000 block of West Third Street.
Zykena Caprice McCurtis, 26, of Duluth, is charged with felony first-degree burglary and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.
A resident told police he had argued with McCurtis on the phone, ended the call and blocked her number. She later came to the apartment and banged on the door, according to the complaint.
When no one let her in, McCurtis forced open a window, pushed out the screen and climbed inside without permission, the resident told police.
McCurtis pulled the woman’s hair, pulling a sewn-in extension away from her scalp, and struck her in the face while she held a one-year-old child. Officers documented cuts near the woman’s left temple and ear.
The complaint says McCurtis also struck the toddler during the attack. Police observed a fresh swollen bruise on the child’s face.
