A Shakopee man pointed a handgun at another man’s head and ordered him out of a Jackson Township home after discovering him in a bedroom with a woman, prosecutors say.
Terry Lorrence Coleman, 35, faces a charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the complaint, Scott County deputies responded to a report of an assault at a Kwik Trip in Shakopee at about 4:30 a.m. on September 12. The victim told deputies he had gone to a residence in Jackson Township to see a woman he was dating. He said Coleman also lived at the home.

The victim reported that after he and the woman went into a bedroom, Coleman entered the room angry and pointed a black handgun at his head while yelling, “Really, are you doing this right now?” The victim said Coleman kept the gun pointed at him and ordered him to leave, following him through the house as the victim tried to gather his belongings in the dark while the children woke up crying.
The complaint states the victim felt terrified and believed Coleman might pull the trigger. As the victim left the house, Coleman broke his phone and key fob and threw them, along with his smart watch, into the yard.
The victim said he picked up his keys and phone and ran between mobile homes to avoid being shot, while Coleman searched for him outside, still holding the gun and yelling, “Where are you?” The victim hid in nearby woods until Coleman went back inside, then heard what he believed were three suppressed gunshots before escaping in his vehicle and driving to Shakopee police to report the assault.
An officer called the woman’s phone, but Coleman answered and refused to say where he was, only stating that the woman and children were fine. A phone ping showed Coleman was likely in Chaska. He admitted to owning two handguns but said they were not at the residence or with him.
Deputies went to the Jackson Township home and spoke with the woman, who confirmed there had been an argument and physical altercation between Coleman and the victim. She did not confirm or deny that a gun was involved but said it was possible Coleman had a firearm during the altercation. She allowed officers to search the home, where nothing unusual was found.
Officers recovered an Apple Watch belonging to the victim in the grass near the back door. Coleman was not found at the residence, and an alert was issued for his arrest.
The charge was filed Wednesday, September 16, in Scott County District Court.
