A man suffered a broken elbow after a neighbor rushed into his home and punched and kicked him, according to a criminal complaint. The assault happened around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 18 on Jefferson Street Northeast in Blaine.
Prosecutors charged Donald Lawrence Mulqueen, 60, of Blaine, with third-degree assault causing substantial bodily harm and threats of violence.
The man told police he was asleep when he heard pounding on his front door. When he opened it, Mulqueen rushed inside and began punching him, the complaint says.
The man fell after the first punch and curled into a fetal position while Mulqueen continued punching and kicking him. He said Mulqueen accused him of talking to his wife, then threatened to kill him after the beating.
The man told officers he believed the threat was serious. After Mulqueen left, he cleaned himself up and went back to bed, but continued pain prompted him to drive to a hospital around 3 a.m. Sept. 19.
His injuries included a fractured left elbow requiring a cast, cuts to the elbow requiring stitches and bruising and swelling around his left eye and ear. He also had scratches and abrasions on his face and arm.
Police took the report Sept. 20. The man provided photographs and medical records documenting his injuries, according to the complaint.
