Three people died, including the suspect, and three Minneapolis police officers were wounded in a shooting inside a downtown apartment building Wednesday afternoon.
The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed it was on the scene of a shooting near 15 East Grant Street involving multiple victims, including at least two officers, but released few other details as the response unfolded.
According to law enforcement sources cited by KSTP-TV, officers were called to the Loring Tower apartment building and a shooter opened fire on them as they entered. Three officers were wounded, including one officer who was shot in the stomach and one shot in the leg, city sources said.
One officer was in surgery but in stable condition as of Wednesday evening and the other injuries were not life-threatening.

Sources said three people died, including the suspect, who was found deceased inside the apartment building and with at least one gunshot wound.
A source told KSTP that officers had been called to the apartment earlier Wednesday for a disturbance involving the same man and that he had been evicted that day.
The first reports came in around 4:40 p.m. near Nicollet Avenue and East Grant Street, an area with several apartment buildings near the Minneapolis Convention Center. Police asked people to avoid the area between 12th Street and Franklin Avenue and between Hennepin Avenue and Third Avenue South. The Hyatt Regency hotel was placed on lockdown.
ATF agents, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension responded to the scene along with Minneapolis police.
