Nine people were shot early Sunday outside a Minneapolis nightclub and investigators are working to determine what led to the gunfire.
Fifth Precinct officers were called around 12:27 a.m. on July 19 to a report of a shooting with multiple people hurt outside the Reign Event Center on the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
The first officers arrived in less than a minute. Because of the number of victims and the large crowd outside, more officers were called in and officers from all five precincts responded.
Officers found four wounded people at the scene: a 20-year-old man with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds, and a 21-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman with wounds that did not appear life-threatening. All four were taken by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare.
An 18-year-old man later walked into Hennepin Healthcare with a gunshot wound that did not appear life-threatening, police say.

Four more wounded people arrived at Abbott Northwestern Hospital: a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old man with wounds that did not appear life-threatening, and a 21-year-old man with potentially life-threatening wounds. The man with the more serious wounds was later moved by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare.
Preliminary information indicates the gunfire broke out after a reported altercation, with a large crowd present at the time, police said. Investigators are looking into whether any of the shots were fired from a vehicle.
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area, and MPD forensic scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting. There have been no arrests as of publication.
