A man is facing a 2nd-degree murder charge after a shooting incident in Saint Paul left one man dead.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on August 31, 2022, officers responded to reports of gunfire near Born’s Bar, where they found a man, later identified as the victim, face down on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 10:09 p.m.
Diontae Keyshawn Moore, 26, of Saint Paul, faces a charge of 2nd-degree murder with intent but not premeditated. Surveillance footage captured a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace leaving the area at a high rate of speed immediately after the shooting. Witnesses reported hearing 40 to 50 gunshots, with one describing the sound as automatic gunfire. The complaint indicates that the gunfire originated from an alley, where two individuals fired at the victim before fleeing in a dark-colored SUV.

Officers recovered 29 spent shell casings near the scene, including .45 caliber and .357 caliber casings. A witness reported seeing a young Black man enter the front passenger seat of a black SUV shortly after the shooting. The investigation led officers to a black Jeep Grand Cherokee registered to Moore, which was found at a separate incident involving a burglary. When officers attempted to stop the Jeep, Moore allegedly rammed a marked squad car and fled into a nearby building, where he was later arrested.
Moore is currently in custody. A court date has not yet been set. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison for the 2nd-degree murder charge.
