19-year-old Killed in North St. Paul Shooting, Suspect Arrested

Police say a 19-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in North St. Paul.

A 24-year-old Saint Paul man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.

North St. Paul police were called to the 2000 block of 9th Avenue East at about 7:04 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, on a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Nehemiah Davis, 19, of Coon Rapids.

Investigators from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the North St. Paul Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police said initial information suggests the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Zay’vion Edgerson, 24, of Saint Paul, was taken into custody and booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder. Police said the case is expected to be sent to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.
