A man already serving a 58-year state prison sentence for a high-speed crash that killed five young women in Minneapolis has been sentenced on federal drug and gun charges.

Prosecutors say he led deputies on an 11-mile pursuit through multiple cities before crashing and running from his vehicle near the Hugo City Hall, in Washington County, before being taken into custody.

Unlike the controversial "red light cameras" of the early 2000s (which were ruled unconstitutional in State v. Kuhlman), this new system was built with specific legal guardrails to survive court challenges.
