Police were called on July 6 to an apartment building on the 2700 block of Lexington Avenue North, where the toddler was found unresponsive outside the garage with a severe head wound.

The child, known for years only as “Baby Angel,” had suffered skull fractures while still alive. No medical intervention was found and an autopsy determined the injuries could have been treated if proper care had been given.

Prosecutors allege that Michelle Rose Skroch, 37, failed to provide essential medical care despite overwhelming evidence that Sherrell was experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency.

Officers were called to a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Street East shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday where they found the child unresponsive. He was transported to Regions Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities say that on May 18, 2024, Brooklyn Center officers were dispatched to an apartment complex after getting a report of a child who had fallen from a window. When officers arrived, they found the child on the ground with life-threatening injuries.
