The criminal complaint accuses 23-year-old A’Quan Kaishaid Laurence Thornton of firing multiple rounds at the victim as the man drove away Sunday morning, striking him in the neck.

Around 9:30 a.m., Mankato Department of Public Safety officers were called to a report of a shooting in the area of Holly Lane.

Mankato Public Safety said crews were dispatched around 2 a.m. to 233 1/2 Bradley Street on a report of a residential structure fire with flames showing from the upstairs unit of the duplex.

Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud, now 19, is charged in Blue Earth County with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Mahamedamin Kader Abdillahi and Ahmed Mohamed Ali, both 18, are each charged with one count of aiding and abetting second-degree attempted murder and one count of aiding and abetting second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Lul Gatbel Lul, 23, is accused of first-degree assault after police say he used a large kitchen knife to inflict a serious neck wound that caused the victim a fractured vertebra and nicked artery.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the store around 3:03 a.m. on March 18, 2025, after receiving a report of a disturbance. Dispatchers heard sounds of an altercation before the call disconnected.

When they arrived, police discovered an unresponsive worker with a visible stab wound who was lying on the floor. Paramedics transported the victim to Mayo Clinic Health System, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are investigating a December 31 shooting in rural Blue Earth County that left a woman injured and resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old man.
