A Minneapolis man will be sent to prison for shooting a man in October of 2023 during an altercation outside a Minneapolis home.

A 22-year-old Hastings man was killed Monday evening in Robbinsdale in what police are calling a targeted shooting.

Officers were dispatched at 1:12 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 to a home on the 4100 block of Manor Woods Drive NW. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Oscar Lee Covington, 42, of Brooklyn Park, was shot in the abdomen on Oct. 30 in the 800 block of Rice Street. Officers responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m. and found Covington critically injured.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Aurora Avenue just before 1:40 p.m. after several 911 callers reported hearing gunfire, with some estimating as many as 20 shots.

A Brooklyn Park man has pled guilty to second-degree murder after fatally shooting another man during a family celebration.

Initial investigation began when a witness walking her dog on December 26, 2022, discovered Kimberly Robinson’s body partially covered by snow near River Bluff Lane NW and West River Road NW in Cascade Township north of Rochester.

The suspect, Chad Aaron Aanerud, 35, of Brainerd, is now facing a dozen felony charges in connection with the crime spree including second-degree murder, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, arson and assault.

Police responded to the incident around 6:15 p.m. Nov. 3 at Redeemer Arms on Dale Street, where they found the victim, a 70-year-old resident, lying unresponsive in the hallway outside his unit.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Front Avenue after a man reported he had been assaulted in his vehicle. The man claimed he fired his gun at the alleged attacker during the altercation and believed he may have injured him.
