Woman Dies in Early Morning Woodbury House Fire

Emergency crews responded to a house fire early Thursday morning in Woodbury that claimed the life of a woman in her 60s.
Just after 5:30 a.m., Woodbury Public Safety was dispatched to the 9000 block of Pinehurst Road on a report of a house fire.
Responders arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
The homeowners informed authorities that one person was possibly still inside the residence. Firefighters began attacking the fire while simultaneously initiating a search for the missing occupant. Shortly after, the woman was found deceased inside the home.

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including Lakeview ambulance and fire departments from Lake Elmo, Cottage Grove, Oakdale, Newport, Saint Paul Park and Maplewood.
Woodbury Public Safety remains on scene as of late Thursday morning, investigating the cause of the fire. They have not yet released her exact cause of death.

The Star Tribune reports the woman who died in the fire was identified Jill Sobule, 66. She was a songwriter and performer, with a 1995 single “I Kissed a Girl” that hit the Billboard Top 20. Sobule was a Denver native and her career spanned almost four decades, including her popular single “Supermodel” that was used in the soundtrack for the movie “Clueless” in 1995.
