A woman abandoned stolen merchandise and ran from officers outside a Woodbury sporting goods store before being caught with fentanyl in her possession, according to the complaint.
Emily Sue Eggersgluss, 40, faces three charges in Washington County District Court: fifth-degree drug possession, theft of movable property without consent and fleeing a peace officer by a means other than a motor vehicle. The charges were filed October 28.
According to the complaint, Woodbury police officers were on patrol at Tamarack Village on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, when they saw Eggersgluss take merchandise from D**** Sporting Goods without paying. Officers confronted her outside the store, at which point she apologized and offered to return the items.

The complaint states Eggersgluss then left the merchandise behind and began running away. Officers caught her and took her into custody.
During a search after her arrest, officers found a white powdery substance on Eggersgluss. She told officers it was fentanyl, admitted she was addicted and said she was struggling. The substance later tested positive as fentanyl, weighing .56 grams, according to the complaint.
The fifth-degree drug possession charge stems from Eggersgluss having fentanyl on her person. The theft charge relates to taking store merchandise valued at $783.96 without paying and the fleeing charge is for running from officers on foot after being confronted.
The complaint says Eggersgluss has multiple prior drug convictions. She was also convicted of financial transaction fraud on or about July 15, 2026, according to the complaint.
