Woman Dies After SUV Rolls Multiple Times in Cottage Grove

A 43-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon in Cottage Grove after being ejected from her vehicle during a crash.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Southbound Highway 61 near Kingsborough Trail.

Authorities say the driver of a 2016 Hyundai Genesis pulled out from the entrance of River Oaks Golf Course and was struck by the southbound 2005 Chevrolet Equinox.

Authorities say the Equinox rolled multiple times. The driver, Crystal Rae Maciewski of Hastings, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She died at the scene.

The 22-year-old driver of the Hyundai was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The road was dry at the time, and there is no indication that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The road was closed for around 3 hours while the crash was being investigated. The roadway was back open by 7:30 p.m.
