Unbelted Driver Dies After SUV Rolls on I-35 in Chisago County

A 68-year-old man from Saint Paul died Saturday after a rollover crash on Interstate 35 in Harris.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the man was driving a 2013 Nissan Juke southbound near mile marker 154 in Harris around 11:57 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway.

The Juke entered the center median and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop on its roof. Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash was reported on a dry roadway, and no other vehicles were involved. Airbags in the Juke did deploy, the Patrol said in an incident report.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and local fire crews assisted at the scene.

The man’s name is expected to be released by authorities on Sunday evening.
