Suspect Hospitalized After Officer-Involved Shooting at Frazee Rest Stop
An officer-involved shooting is under investigation after a domestic assault and pursuit led law enforcement to a rest stop in Otter Tail County Wednesday night.
According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 5:30 p.m. when the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic assault in the 20000 block of Becker County Highway 21.

The caller stated that an adult male suspect had forced his way into a residence, physically assaulted the victim, and stole a firearm before fleeing in a vehicle.
Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle in the city of Detroit Lakes, but the man fled when officers attempted to stop him. A pursuit followed, involving Becker County deputies, Detroit Lakes police, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase continued into Otter Tail County, ending at the Frazee Rest Stop. Officers made contact with the suspect at that location, and an officer-involved shooting occurred shortly after.
The suspect was given medical aid at the scene and transported to Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes, then later transferred to Essentia in Fargo. His current condition has not been released.
No officers were injured. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is now investigating the shooting. All involved officers were equipped with body-worn cameras. Authorities have not released the name of the suspect.
