State Patrol Investigating Fatal Eyota Township Crash

 

A person died Friday afternoon after a collision between a semi truck and a car in Eyota Township.

According to initial info from the State Patrol, the crash happened around 1:45 p.m.

A northbound semi driver on Olmsted County Road 7 entered the intersection as the driver of a Chevrolet Impala came off the eastbound Interstate 90 exit ramp. The driver of the Impala crossed County Road 7 and was struck in the middle of the intersection.

The State Patrol says the Impala was driven by a 41-year-old from Hayward, Wisconsin and a 34-year-old from La Crosse, Wisconsin was riding as a passenger. A 37-year-old from Rochester was driving the semi. Authorities confirmed at least one person died at the scene, but they haven’t said which occupant died or whether anyone else was hurt.

More information, including the names of those involved, is expected to be released Saturday. The State Patrol has not said whether speed, impairment or other factors may have contributed. The crash remains under investigation with assistance from the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
