Early Morning Crash Near Buffalo Leaves 2 Dead

Two People died in a crash in Rockford Township early Saturday, the Minnesota State Patrol says.
The drivers of a westbound Chevrolet Equinox and an eastbound GMC Acadia collided on Highway 55 near County Road 33 around 2:34 a.m.

Initial info from troopers says the Chevrolet driver rolled into the north ditch after the impact and the GMC driver rolled into the south ditch. Wright County deputies, Buffalo police and Buffalo Fire arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged with debris across the highway. Responders confirmed two deaths at the scene.
Troopers identified the GMC driver as 50-year-old Shawn Aaron Slaven, of Plymouth, who died at the scene. The Chevrolet was driven by 20-year-old Mindimoie Monik Diggines, of Saint Paul, who also died. Two passengers were in the Chevrolet. An 18-year-old woman, of Minneapolis, was taken to North Memorial with non-life threatening injuries. Brooke Lynn Loree Hoheisel, 18, of Freeport, was taken to HCMC with life threatening injuries.

Road conditions were listed as dry. Officials haven’t said whether speed, impairment or any other factors may have played a role. Highway 55 was shut down after the crash while investigators documented the scene.
Wright County deputies, Buffalo police and Buffalo Fire assisted at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
